"Purcell's Chicken Voluntary" on current row over pregnancy counselling

I've been meaning to blog about the current row over the Government's pregnancy counselling plans, something rational, insightful and convincing, as is my usual practice. But in the meantime, I came across this piece by Louise at Purcell's Chicken Voluntary. It's certainly not what you would call a particularly "rational" contribution to the debate, but given that the "debate" such as it is is totally illogical anyway, who gives a damn? Sometimes only ridicule and invective will do the job.

LOL!!! That will teach me to think I'm ever rational! hehehe.

But yes, ridicule and invective certainly do the job for me.
;)

(Not to self: practise using the other half of my brain).

And you're right - the "debate" is none too rational anyway. Well, it's just not a debate at all.

Thanks for not taking offence, Louise. I didn't mean to be derogatory--I laughed all the way through your comments. And yes, under the invective, there was a clear argument. But it was the invective that really amused me.

No, there was certainly no offence taken. I thought your response was hilarious!

The most serious point in all this was yours - that the "debate" is illogical.

I think the central argument of the pro-choice crowd is: "We are right. We care about women. Pro-lifers are scumbags who hate women."

At least, that's the impression I get. There's just no room for debate in that kind of "argument."
