Has your grapevine anything to say about "that other petition"? Just curious.
No. I didn't really expect it would. I think "that other petition" was never a real attempt to get the bishops attention. It was meant (as many "open letters" are) for a different audience. Notably, Paul Collins didn't expect his petition ever to make it to the floor of the synod either, as he admitted in the question and answer time at "that meeting". He must be surprised.
I find myself wishing we had a journo covering the ACBC meeting in the same way that John L. Allen covered the USCBC meeting last month. Blow by blow, interviews, background, the lot. Oh well. One shouldn't meddle in the affairs of bishops...
