Days in the Diocese: Day One: Peace by Piece
Melbourne has been invaded by hourdes of happy Catholics from around the world. Here are some pictures and video from today's events in Melbourne for Days in the Diocese. First, an Interfaith Peace event held in Federation Square. This is a little like the one my office is holding later on Sunday, but was organised independantly of us by the Oblates of Mary Immaculate - and the crowd are mostly Oblate Youth from around the world.

Bishop Prowse with some of the Oblate Clergy - Bishop Prowse is a Melbourne Auxiliary, and the Bishop in charge of DID08 in Melbourne.
Father John is an Oblate Priest from the Sale Diocese (Gippsland, Eastern Victoria). He was well rugged up against the cold!

Please David, do tell how your paper went at the Spe Salvi Colloquium - which I bitterly miss not having been able to attend!
Oh, and when you meet up with Justin and smoke a pipe or two, do ask him about the book I passed on to him, since it fits admirably with the Colloquium:

- it's so good, I've just ordered another copy!
I will put my powerpoint presentation up on the EIC website and link it to the blog. I didn't did a quarter of the way through the material! It was fun - I was on with Fr Robbie and Dr Anna Silva. Bishop Elliott was scheduled to chair, but had double booked himself with Theology on Tap - he seemed to find it more enticing to be in a bar talking to youth about the liturgy than to be at the JPII colloquium! Dr Adam Cooper chaired instead.
Oh wonderful! The Oblate priest, Fr John, is a former parish priest of mine from Adelaide days.
