The kind of Ecumenism we need more of in today's world...

This report on the three-way opposition to legal abortion in England - from the Archbishops of Canterbury and Westminister and the Chief Rabbi of Great Britain - is proof that when it works, ecumenical action can be very beneficial in today's morally-confused world.

As legalised Euthanasia is the next front on which bio-ethical battles will be fought in our own pariliaments, we in Victoria (in particular) and Australia (in general) can take some comfort in the fact that there is much more agreement over issues surrounding the end of life than issues surrounding its beginning. You can be assured that we are well on the road to seeking the same sort of ecumenical agreement in this area.

Britain is no longer GREAT because she has accomodated humanism, political correctness and harbours islamic extremists. There could come a time when here in Australia we Christians will be gaoled for stopping the 'euthanasia" of people who do not have any choice such as the disabled, the dementia suffere, the premature child.
The public are being sold a crock of dung when there is talk about the ineffectiveness of palliative care. the pain management regimes put in place, the expertise of staff working in this area far exceeds the lazy medical ideals and hazy aspirations of Dr Phil Nietschke-probably spelt wrongly

This is the kind of ecumenism I can really get into. The Party of Death introduced a Bill to parliament here in May to legalise "euthanasia." It has been referred to a committee. Submissions to be in by the end of the month.

Yes you are right louise ,this is the appropriate form of ecumeninism. I notice that there was no mention of muslims being involved.

Did you like the joke on the Chaser last night that Michael Jackson's died after being administered pain killers by his Australian physician, Philip Nietschke?

That's interesting. Again, what interfaith/ecumenical cooperation should be for. Mind you, a meeting of natives of the Subcontinent for prayer could in itself be an interfaith prayer meeting, even if no non-Indians attended. I have been at interfaith meetings where the Muslim, Christian, Hindu and Sikh representatives have all been Indians!

Were they asked? We are certainly asking them to be involved. The problem is partly that their attention is directed elsewhere, eg. to protecting their community from assault.
