Listen to the Chants of the New Missal!
My friend Paul Taylor drew my attention to this page from the US National Association of Pastoral Musicians.
Here you can listen to the singing of the chants for the new English missal (unfortunately, no Credo). A great learning resource!

This is indeed a wonderful resource. The new translations provide beautiful sacral English. The chants which accompany them, if faithfully implemented, should do much to restore a sense of the transcendent in our Eucharistic celebrations.
Do notice in the Credo, that the translation has been altered (sensibly in my view) to add the words "I believe" to each section instead of just the conjunctive "and". I believe that ICEL was faithful to Liturgican Authenticam in doing the translations and that the authorities in Rome have now seen some of the problems with an over literal translation.
There is so much for us to look forward to with what we will now be given in the new Missal. Priests and people will now have to work hard to implement the Missal in its fullness (chants as well).
I know that singing for many priests is a challenge. It would be good if the Dioceses provided workshops for priests to a) help them find their voice, b) give them confidence that they can do it, and c) offer all necessary supports to learn the chants.
Thank you David for providing this link. Everyone please note that the Lord's Prayer is done here according to what is normal in the US. In Australia I am sure will retain the traditional chant in common use here.
Always proposing, never imposing
The Inquisition never happened?
Whaaat the?
Wow!! The chants are beautiful!
I can't wait for Advent 2011.
Hi, Lucian. Haven't heard from you in a long time. Why do you pick now to pick an old fight?
