Is 58 Comments a record? Continuing the "Antichrist/Justification" discussion
I don't know if 58 comments is a record on this blog, but the post below called "Stirring Pastor Weedon" certainly generated a lot of interest.
But it's about to fall of the end of this blog page, and go into archives, so in case anyone wanted to continue the discussion, here is your opportunity.
And here is something to excite you a little more:

Funny -- you didn't highlight IF THEY FAIL TO RESPOND.
Ah, I must jump in again -- today's Office of Readings (with edifying commentary from Saint Hilary) is taken from the Second Letter of John:
Many deceivers have gone out into the world, those who do not acknowledge Jesus Christ as coming in the flesh; such is the deceitful one and the antichrist.

To whom much has been given, much will be required, no?
And PE, there is no need to highlight "if they fail to respond."
From the very beginning (actually, from the Last Supper on) there have been wheat and tares in the church, as is supported by the very Scriptural admonition that "he who perserveres to the end will be saved." There have always been those who are present "bodily" but not in heart, mind and spirit.
To look for a "pure" church is to lapse into sectarianism.
Jesus knows his own.
Not my point at all in commenting what our host didn't highlight.
It's not and never has been about the tares. We got all kinds of them in LCMS, just like you guys. On any given day, and depending on who you ask, I may be counted one of them.
It's about what takes itself to be wheat, so to speak.
Not surprised, though, that the point was not clear in an RC environment.
